Machine won't accelerate

The machine has no problem starting but when the accelerator trigger is pulled the machine cuts out and quits. Also when the choke is turned to run the machine also quits. I've cleaned the muffler and spark suppressor . I also took the carb off and cleaned it by just wiping it off. The machine was seldom used. What should I do next.
