Too high compression when trying to start chainsaw

Have not used chainsaw for ten months and the pull cord is difficult to use as compression is very high.

is the decompression button pushed in, if so pull it out

Stihl 044 chainsaw

I cannot locate a decompresion valve on this model, why do you suggest it has one?If so where is it located.
