The filter is located in the tank. It will be attached to the end of the fuel line. It's not uncommon for the filter to fall off or the line to break. You should hear it rattle around when you shake the saw. To remove it, make a hook in the end of a stiff piece of wire and slip it around the fuel line inside the tank. You should then be able to pull the filter out.
